Madison Municipal Airport 4,400 x 75 feet runway that is adequate for small business jets and most turbo props. Five corporate and 35 private planes are based at the airport. VOR/DME and NDB instrument approaches. Runway End Identification Lights and Precision Approach Path Indicators are located on both ends of the runway. Pilot Radio Command activates the runway lights.

The Madison Railroad operates a 25-mile mainline offering daily freight service from Madison to North Vernon, Indiana (CSXT Interchange). The Madison Railroad also owns and operates approximately 15 miles of track within the Jefferson Proving Ground, offering an engine house, common loading dock and railcar storage facilities.


The Ohio River remains an important transportation link with thousands of tons of coal, gravel and other bulk resources moving by barge each year. Indiana has three major ports offering year-round access to the intercostal waterway. The Clark Maritime Centre, located 45 minutes west of Madison in Jeffersonville, has three berths, a 450-ton lift capacity and averages 1.1 million tons of shipping per year. The Southwind Maritime Centre, located in Mt. Vernon, is the 4th largest port in the Ohio Basin, averaging 4 million tons per year. Indiana's International Port, located on Lake Michigan, has eleven berths and averages 2 million tons per year.
